FORT MADISON — Agnes Lorraine Farris, 88, of Fort Madison, formerly of Newton, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Fort Madison Health Center in Fort Madison.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Her body has been cremated. Arrangements are being handled by Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison.

The daughter of Charles Dudley Lockhart and Retta Anna (Rumbley) Lockhart, she was born Oct. 14, 1916, in Decatur, Neb.

She married Edgar Harris "Ned" Sackett. She later married James David Farris. She was a dress buyer for Brandeis in Omaha, Neb., and for the May Company in Denver, Colo., and in California.

She was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed playing bridge. She lived in Newton for a time.

Survivors include a son, Ned L. (Rebecca) Sackett of Daphne, Ala.; a step-daughter, Patricia (Norman) Shamburg of Tekamah, Neb.; four granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Catherine) Lockhart of Tekamah, Neb.; and three sisters, Florence Mae (Keith) Palmer of Tekamah, Neb., Helen (Norman) Matzen of Blair, Neb., and Bernice Jean (Ronald) Ericksen of Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sisters, "Mary" Anne Williams and Hazel Irene Winslade; and two brothers, Max "Sam" D. Lockhart and Edgar Lockhart.
