M. Lucille Blacker, 98, of Newton died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at USA Healthcare — Newton.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Carrie Lewis of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newton officiating. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
No visitation is scheduled. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County, USA Healthcare Courtyard Project or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Charles Wallace and Margaret Samantha (Geesey) Stewart, she was born Dec. 29, 1906, in Clarence, Mo. On Sept. 2, 1927, she married Kenneth Blacker in Newton.

She worked in the factory at Winpower and retired in 1973. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Holy Trinity Church. She enjoyed fishing and camping at Lake of the Woods in Canada.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty (Charles) Korte and Barbara Bozarth, all of Newton, and Beverly (Kenneth) Gifford of Kellogg; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Charles in infancy; twin sister, Harriett Artile Shores; a brother, J. Harold Stewart in 1972; and a son-in-law, Don Bozarth in 1989.
