Colfax Man Dead
Colfax, Iowa – S. W. Brown, pioneer business man of Colfax died at his home here New Year's morning after a year of feeble health.
Mr. Brown came to Colfax from Illinois in 1892, attracted there by the mineral waters which he found to be beneficial to his health. He and his son, B. A. Brown, then became engaged in the lumber business and continued in this line for 16 years.
Had Mr. Brown lived until next March he would have been 81 years of age. Mrs. Brown died a year and a half ago.
He is survived by his son Ben A. Brown, postmaster at Colfax, Mrs. W. C. Crisman and Mrs. H. W. Woods.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2 o’clock at the home.
Dr. George E. Chapman, pastor of the Presbyterian church, was in charge.
Burial was made in the Colfax cemetery.
