The son of Lucas Warrick and Jessica Meinhart, Matthew was born on May 5, 2003, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Colfax-Mingo High School in 2021. From a very young age, Matthew could be described as one word: ornery! Matthew was always trying to push the limits, he knew one speed: fast and full throttle. According to his family, if you dared Matthew to do something, you could consider it done (especially if you offered him a dollar). The best part was that many of these “dares” were caught on video for all to enjoy. Matthew’s family said that he had a certain smirk, and if you saw that smirk, you knew something crazy was about to happen or had already happened. Matthew loved to be outdoors, work on cars or anything with wheels and a engine, he loved playing sports through his youth years, Matthew also had a special spot in his heart for music especially his love of playing a guitar, Matthew could pick up a guitar watch a you tube video and have song down within no time, playing his Keith Urban guitar was his favorite. But most of all he loved his family. He was the best brother to his brothers and little sister.
Luke mentioned that he and Matthew were truly each other’s best friends. They always had each other’s backs and had an extremely close bond. In June of 2021, he moved to Georgia to be with his father. Whenever his brothers offered him a room if he moved back, his response was always, “I can’t leave dad alone out there.”
Matthew was diagnosed with T-Cell Leukemia in 2019, the day before his junior year of high school started. He was crushed that he was unable to continue playing football. Matthew focused his energy on his cancer treatments and was able to ring the bell declaring he was cancer free in January of 2023. It was always Matthew’s dream to fly. Matthew was a man who knew no limits. Whether it was speed in a car, the craziness of a dare, or love for his family, he knew no limits.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents; Lucas (Nichole) Warrick and Jessica (Zac Ollerich) Meinhart, siblings; Andrew Meinhart, Patrick Warrick, and Lydia Warrick, grandparents; Patricia Stier-Grooms, Robin Nichol-Brenner, Kathie Clark- Warrick, Susan (Cindy) Bernal, and Kim (Lisa) Meinhart, aunts and uncles; Joshua (Nicole) Warrick, Mindy (Ben) Dunlavy, Travis Brenner, Chris (Tricia) Meinhart, Colleen (Nick) Howe, and Leny (Layne) Bush, as well as many cousins, extended family and the village who always supported him. Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfathers; Curt Warrick, Donald Grooms, and Harry Brenner, as well as an aunt; Kerri Brenner.
