Bonnie "Lester" Geerlings
1952 - 2023Bonnie Geerlings, the daughter of Thomas Eugene and Opal Irene (Alloway) Lester, was born April 7, 1952, in Newton, Iowa. She attended Newton schools.
On May 14, 1983, Bonnie was united in marriage with Albert Geerlings at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Bonnie owned and operated Cardinal Trophy’s in Newton since 2008.
Bonnie was a member of the Newton V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Newton Moose Lodge. Bonnie enjoyed being a bowling coach, teaching children for over 50 years. She was an avid bowler and bingo player, traveling all over the country to various tournaments.
Bonnie died on Monday, June 26, 2023, at her home in Newton. She was 71 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-daughter, Teresa White and her sisters, Rita Cooper and Rosalie Brammer.
Those left to honor Bonnie’s memory include her husband, Albert Geerlings; her sons, Michael Geerlings, Nick White, Tony Geerlings and Tom Geerlings; her many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her step-sons, Billy Terry White and James Robert White; her sister, Becky Webster; her brothers, Gary (Shirley) Lester, Keith (Terri) Lester and Butch Lester; and her many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Albert Geerlings and may be mailed to 425 E. 5th St. N. Newton, IA 50208 or to the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
