Pearl Roeder Dies Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Roeder, 80, formerly of Colfax, were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Christian Church in Colfax.
Mrs. Roeder, a resident of the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday in Grinnell General Hospital in Grinnell.
Rev. Robert Jones, pastor, officiated and the organist was Mrs. Ella Mae Baird.
Casket-bearers were Harry Sage, Andrew Conn, Keith Nicodemus, Robert Lester, Raymond Faidley and Leland Lester.
Interment was in the McKeever Cemetery with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn in charge of arrangements.
Emma Pearl Story Roeder, daughter of Andrew and Amy Story, was born on March 3, 1897.
She received her education in the Prairie City schools and the Four C’s College in Des Moines.
She was united in marriage to Harry W. Roeder on November 25, 1919, in Polk County. They farmed north of Colfax.
Mrs. Roeder lived at Colfax until November 1975 when she entered into the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Roeder was a member of the Christian Church of Colfax and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Roeder is survived by twin children, a son Max Roeder of Brooklyn and a daughter Mrs. LeRoy (Maxine) Van Baale of Seattle, Washington; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister.
