Mrs. John Richards, Longtime Resident Of Colfax, Dies
Colfax – Mrs. John (Martha Ann) Richards, 83, of Colfax, who would have been 84 years old today, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
The Rev. Neville Clayton, minister of the Colfax Christian Church, and the Rev. Dale Nicholson, minister of the Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home at Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Richards, a longtime resident of Colfax, is survived by a daughter, Mary Lloyd of Colfax; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Mindham of Colfax.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six brothers and sisters.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Mindham, she was born Dec. 9, 1877 in Guisbrough, Yorkshire, England, and came to the United States with her parents at the age of five.
She was educated in Des Moines and Colfax schools and was married to John T. Richards at her parents’ home north of Colfax Aug. 6, 1897.
