Neva Rhone, 87, Services Today; Dies on Friday
Ira-Colfax – Funeral services for Mrs. James D. (Neva) Rhone, 87, a former resident of the Ira and Colfax communities, were held today at the Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. James Pemble, pastor of the Colfax First United Methodist Church, conducted services. Burial was in the McKeever Cemetery northeast of Colfax.
She died Friday afternoon at the Jasper County Care Facility southeast of Newton.
Survivors are two sons, Myron of Newton and Keith of Baxter; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1954, a grandson, a great-grandson, a brother, Carl Couch, and a sister, Clara Couch.
Mrs. Rhone was a member of the Colfax First United Methodist Church, Sunshine Club and the Ira Garden Club.
She had been superintendent of the Sunday school at the Ira United Methodist Church for many years and had taught Sunday school in the Ira and Colfax churches.
The daughter of Dan A. and Margaret Moorhead Couch, she was born Dec. 3, 1894 in Goddard-Sand Hill Community, and was educated in Newton schools and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.
She was married June 23, 1920 in Newton.
