Infant Child Found Dead In Its Bed Sunday Morning
Funeral For Infant Son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pierce Tuesday
Marvin Dale, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pierce of the Oswalt neighborhood was found dead in bed by his mother early Sunday morning. The child was brought to Colfax where an effort was made to restore life, but to no avail.
Marvin Dale Pierce was born September 14, 1939 and departed this life on December 24, 1939 at the age of 3 months and 10 days. His life came into the home of his parents as a sweet benediction and was a source of very great comfort and joy to his parents.
He leaves to mourn his loss his devoted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pierce, one brother, Melvin Francis, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Pierce and Mr. and Mrs. A. Nichols, two great-grandmothers, Mrs. Eliza Pierce of Des Moines and Mrs. Katherine A. Lynch of Colfax; eight uncles and seven aunts, also several great uncles, aunts and cousins.
Aunts and uncles of the deceased are: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Warrick, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warrick Jr., Park, Eugene, Leonard, Wilma Pierce of Colfax; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Harre, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Nichol, Roy and Arnold Nichol and Irene Nichol of Rhodes, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nichol of Colfax, Miss Margaret Nichol of Ames.
Funeral services were conducted from the Cutter-Hartnett Funeral Chapel Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C. J. Bukoutz officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer and Mrs. Geo. Rinker. Pall bearers were Roy and Frank Warrick, Lloyd Dodd and Adolph Harre. Interment was in the McKeever cemetery.
