Final Rites Held For Thor Nicodemus
Funeral services for Thor Nicodemus, 79, proprietor of the Thor Florist Shop in Colfax for 35 years until his retirement in 1959, were held Monday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the Colfax Christian Church conducted the services.
Military services were conducted by Jones-Willis American legion Post of Colfax. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Mary Dell Nicodemus of Pella; a niece, Mrs. Wm. B. (Linda) Warrick of Prairie City; and a brother, Ivan of Colfax.
Mr. Nicodemus was a member of Jones-Willis American Legion Post at Colfax and Voiture No. 7140 and 8 of Des Moines.
The son of Isaac Henry and Iona Dellene Smith Nicodemus, he was born Oct. 30, 1894 in Colfax.
He was married to Dorothy Smith Nov. 18, 1945 in Colfax and was a 1916 graduate of Colfax Community High School.
He died Friday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Organist: Miss Eleanor Howell.
Bearers: Gerald Bauer; Royal Cross; Ralph DeReus; Harold Taylor; George Weirick; Howard Williams, Jr.
Flowers: Mrs. Harry Barber, Mrs. Loren Chelleen.
