Colfax – Funeral services for Furley “Bud” Nichol, 60, a resident of Colfax since 1960, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.
The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Friends may call at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He died Tuesday evening at the Des Moines General Hospital.
Survivors are his wife, Doris; two sons, Allen Dean of Colfax and Timothy Eugene of Monroe; three daughters, Donna Jean (Mrs. Richard) Teed of Colfax, Robin Eileen (Mrs. Harold) Brenner of Colfax and Penny Irene Nichol of Knoxville; and nine grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Reuben and Walter, both of Knoxville, and Marvin of Newton; and three sisters, Margaret Stohlman of Sacramento, Calif., Verba Dodd of Baxter and Irene Bartholomew of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a grandchild.
Mr. Nichol, a former farmer, more recently had been self-employed in the air conditioning field.
The son of Andrew and Viola Williams Nichol, he was born March 17, 1927 at Rhodes.
He was married to Doris Wadsworth May 25, 1948 in Newton.
