BAXTER — Betty Jean Milligan, 81, of Baxter died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ashton Chapel, west of Baxter. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter, where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to the family in her name.

The daughter of Vernon G. and Lennie L. (Koon) Pershall, she was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Clyde. She was raised and educated in the Clyde country schools and graduated from the Mingo High School. On May 10, 1943, she married Edwin Harold Milligan in Newton. Together they owned and operated the Clyde Café and Gas Station for several years. She was a member of TOPS and KOPS.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathryn (Charles) Reed of Guttenberg, Judith (Stephen) Hopper of Neptune Beach, Fla., and Rebecca (Tony) Berger of Baxter; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Doris Orr, Helen Bucklin and Marylou Freland, all of Baxter, LaVon Hunter of Mingo and Joyce Lester of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Raymond and John Pershall, and a sister Bessie Patterson.
