Dale E. Ellsworth, 76, of Newton died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at USA Healthcare — Newton.

Memorial services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Christian Church in Newton with the Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church. Memorials will be accepted to Willowbrook Adult Day Care Center and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the day of the service.

The son of Ray and Oma B. (Hukill) Ellsworth, he was born July 27, 1929, in Pleasantville. He was a graduate of Pleasantville High School and attended Drake University in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

On Dec. 23, 1961, he married Martha S. Binkley in Des Moines. He was a postal clerk at the Newton Post Office for 25 years and retired in 1988. He enjoyed gardening. He was a member of First Christian Church and the U.S. Postal Union.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Fred Ellsworth of Newton; two daughters, Mary (Jim) Harrington of Clear Water, Fla., and Becky (Mike) Poole of Sully; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Letha Jervis and Ila June Ellsworth.
