Franklin Rites To Be Friday
James Franklin, 84, of 935 Third place, died at home Tuesday of a heart ailment. He had been ill one week.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Dunn’s Funeral Home. Burial will be at Ashton Chapel Cemetery, four miles north of Mingo.
Mr. Franklin was born in Mingo and had lived in Des Moines 54 years. He retired May, 1941, after 30 years with Des Moines Union Railway.
He was a member of the Methodist Church. A York rite Mason, he belonged to Home Masonic Lodge and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. R. H. McKeehan of California; Mrs. Earl Kilmer, Des Moines; and Mrs. Harry Milan, Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, W. W. Franklin, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Johnston, Des Moines; and Mrs. Lura Densmore, Story City; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
