Emma, daughter of Solomon and Ellen (Connor) Berry, was born in this township June 7, 1866. Her mother died when Emma was three years old and she was given a home with her aunt, Mrs. Rachel Berry. Oct. 3, 1886 she was united in marriage with J. R. (“Bub”) Stock, who died in Oct. 1888. To this union two children, Ellen, now Mrs. Alva Moore, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Glenn Stock, of Colfax, were born.
She moved to Baxter after her husband’s death and a few years later to Colfax. In August, 1898, she was united in marriage to Abram Clement at Colfax. To this union seven children were born, three of whom survive: Gladys, Elmer and Elizy, all at home with their father. In 1904 they moved to a farm in this township and have since lived in this part of the county. She united with the Church of Christ at Baxter thirty years ago.
Besides her husband and five children she leaves eight grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Josh Vasey of Collins, and two brothers, Chas, and Albert Berry of Baxter. Mrs. Abram Clements died at Colfax Sanitarium Sunday, January 22, after several weeks’ illness.
Funeral services were held at Ashton Chapel Tuesday and interment was made in the Ashton Cemetery beside her husband and children.
