Keith Eldon Maggard
March 5, 1960 - March 4, 2023

Keith Eldon Maggard, age 62, of Colfax, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday,

March 4, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. A brief service will be held at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maggard family. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Max and Joyce (Olson) Maggard, Keith was born on March 5, 1960 at Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines, IA. He attended Mingo Community Schools, graduating in 1978. He was a stellar athlete in high school, involved in track, baseball, and football.

He was loved by his classmates, earning the title of Homecoming King. He enjoyed farming with his father and grandfather. He married his former wife Kris Maggard (Oberhart) in 1987 and built a home near the family farm. He worked for Jasper County
for over 32 years, retiring in 2019.

Keith felt immense love for his daughters, Molly and Olivia. They were his pride and joy.

Keith’s signature mustache was shaved only once as a surprise for his daughter Molly when she returned home from her first international trip. He considered Eva, his bonus daughter from Germany, one of his own. He also considered Walter, his son-in-law from Brazil, as his own son. He loved spending time outdoors, whether it was golfing, fishing, gardening, or mushroom hunting. He was a skilled skier. He had a passion for cooking and grilling. He loved cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Keith was very involved in his
daughters’ lives; they traveled as a family, he shared a love of games with Olivia and he
coached Molly’s sports teams. He attended over fifty concerts and shared his love of
music with his daughters, singing to them in the car daily. During summers, he would make homemade salsa and pickles with fresh vegetables from his garden. His kind heart was filled with love for his community, friends and family.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Molly (Walter) Caldas, Olivia
(Blake) Maggard; his parents, Max and Joyce Maggard; his siblings Ron (Karen)
Maggard, Linda (Joe) Maher, Rhonda Maggard, and Mitzi (Darin) Wood; and many nieces and nephews.
