Clark – Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1877, Iris Lou, oldest daughter of Mrs. Fannie E. Clark, aged 11 years, 5 months, 25 days.

Iris was a child of rare promise, loved by all who knew her. Her sickness and death in a remarkable way, remind her bereaved mother and her friends of the sickness and death of her father. She was taken sick precisely four years from the time her father was taken ill, and just four years from his death, she too passed away. The disease was one of the complicated forms of Diphtheria. The dear one, during the entire illness, said she would die and made a selection from the Bible of a text for her funeral service, and patient and womanlike, with a full knowledge that she was about to die, she went home to heaven and her Savior, where there is no sickness, pain or death, but where all is love. The afflicted family have our sympathy and of the entire community in their sad bereavement.

The remains will be taken to her former home at Underhill, Vt., for interment. The family will be accompanied on their sad journey by E. R. Ward.
