Newton Daily News, June 25, 1998

Goldie Schnell, 89 of the Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton, formerly of Lynnville, died of heart failure Wednesday, June 24 at the care facility.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Sully with the Rev. Robert Waters, officiating. Burial will be at the St. Andrews Cemetery in rural Sully.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton after 2 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held today at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Memorials to the St. Andrews Lutheran Church will be accepted.

The daughter of Charles and Lena Koppin, she was born March 25, 1909 in Jasper County.

She married Claire Schnell on Oct. 17, 1936 in Kellogg.

A lifelong resident of Jasper County, she grew up in Kellogg before moving to Lynnville. She was a resident of Newton since 1992. Mrs. Schnell worked as a homemaker and was a member of the St. Andrews Lutheran Church, St. Andrews Ladies Group and the Jasper County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Andrea and Richard and Linda, all of Sully and Ronald and Carolyn of Pella; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Lincoln of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and four sisters.
