Bertha Brooks Dies Sunday; Rites Tuesday

Kellogg – Mrs. Albert (Bertha M.) Brooks, 72, of Rt. 2, Kellogg, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Sunday morning at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kellogg Lutheran Church.

The Rev. W. H. Lindquist, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Tuesday and at the church from 12:30 p.m. Tuesday until time of services.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Helen) Timmer of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Gilmore (Frances) Robbins Jr. of Rt. 2, Kellogg; seven granddaughters; two brothers, Walter Koppin of Rt. 1, Newton and Glen Koppin of Rt. 1, Newton; and four sisters, Rose Koppin of Newton, Mrs. Claire (Goldie) Schnell of Lynnville, Mrs. Thomas (Gladys) Birchard of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Charles (Esther) Wiedeman of Newton and Mrs. Lloyd (Elsie) Hutchinson of Kellogg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Mrs. Clara Allen.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of Kellogg Lutheran Church.

The daughter of Charles and Lena Brune Koppin, she was born Sept. 18, 1899 near Newton.

She was married to Albert Brooks Mar. 9, 1921 in Newton.
