Streeter, Elizabeth Stock – 1841-1929

Elizabeth M. Stock, second daughter of James and Sarah Stock was born in Summet county, Ohio, September 22, 1841, and departed this life May 9, 1929, aged 87 years 7 months and 17 days.
She migrated from Ohio to Iowa with her parents in 1856 making the trip overland with ox teams, locating in Clear Creek township, Jasper county.
On February 7th, 1861, she was united in marriage to Thomas A. Streeter. To this union seven children were born; four preceding her in death, Sarah Elizabeth and Ambrose in infancy; Eliza at 10 ad Henry at 3. Those left to mourn her loss are Mrs. Lydia Mills, Mrs. Emma Leonard and Mrs. Edna Funk of Mingo, who faithfully cared for their parents in their last days.
She had seen her share of pioneer hardships as her young husband had answered Lincoln’s call. Leaving his young wife and infant daughter with his parents while he served his country for three years. After he returned their entire life was spent in the Mingo vicinity, excepting three years spent in Missouri. Eleven years ago they left the farm coming to Mingo on account of failing health.
In early life she united with the United Brethren church at Clyde and when health permitted attended church and Sunday school.
She was a patient, kind and loving mother, always willing to lend a helping hand in the hour of need.
Those who are left to mourn her loss are her three daughters, Mrs. Lydia Mills, Mrs. Emma Leonard and Mrs. Edna Funk, all of Mingo, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Evans of Colfax and Mrs. Anna Day of Lincoln, Nebr., besides many other relatives and friends. All of the near relatives were present excepting one granddaughter.
Her husband with whom she had journeyed in this life nearing 68 years preceded her in death on October 29th, 1928.
Services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Matthews of the Mingo M.E. church at Ashton church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock and interment was made in the Ashton cemetery by the side of her husband.
The music was furnished by Mrs. Frey, Mrs. Matthews, Mr. Sandy and Floyd Hulse.
Pall bearers were Henry, Joe and Ed Stratton, Jim Streeter, Charley Evans and Thomas Ashton.
The out of town relatives present were, Mrs. Mary Evans and son Chas., Mrs. Ella Snyder, Mrs. Ida Cox of Colfax, Mrs. Anna Day of Lincoln, Nebr., Mrs. Alice Enfiel of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. George Millet. Mrs. Sarah Stock of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ashton of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Angelo and Florence, Lyle Enfiel of Ft. Des Moines.
