Lloyd Eugene Uitermarkt, age 70 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Following a graveside service, the family will host a luncheon at the church. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, November 30 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be directed to the family (Please make checks payable to Rhonda.) and condolences may be left at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

Lloyd was born to Marion and Nellie Uitermarkt, in Pella, IA on September 9, 1952. His family moved to Monroe in 1958. Lloyd graduated from Monroe High School in 1970. Following high school, he served in the United States Air Force from 1970-1976.

Lloyd was a farmer at heart. He farmed from when he was a little boy through helping his nephews farm during his retirement years. Lloyd loved his work with Story Construction. He retired as a Superintendent in 2018. Over his 33 years, he provided quiet leadership and mentorship to many.

Lloyd married Rhonda in 1996. He was the rock of their family. He loved hosting his large family and having the house filled with laughter (and a bit of chaos!). He was a wonderful father to his six children and the best Papa to twelve grandkids and two great grandchildren (and one on the way). As you can imagine, with the dynamics of a large family, Lloyd was patient beyond belief! He would just shake his head and smile.

In his free time, he enjoyed many hobbies. Lloyd and Rhonda loved tooling around on their Harley Davidson. They even enjoyed a few multi-state road trips. Traveling brought him great joy. He especially enjoyed his trips, with his family, to Mexico. His trip to Switzerland and Italy was a great highlight for him.

Lloyd enjoyed golfing and riding around on his golf cart. He would let his grandkids drive him around and he would just smile and hold on for dear life! We know he is already enjoying a round of golf in heaven.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Rhonda; his six children Jessica (Justin) Zuidema, Holly (Matt) Clifton, Amanda (Earl) Simo, Alicia (Josh) Hansen, Tom McCarville, Andrea (Kurt) Steenhoek; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren (and one on the way). He is also survived by his brother Vern (Darlene) Uitermarkt and his sister Lois Uitermarkt plus many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and his older sister, Judith.

Lloyd was, and always will be, adored as a Husband, Dad, and Papa. You will be missed beyond measure. Heaven gained a good one the day you joined left our sides!
