Wm. Grosvenor Dies After Long Sickness
Was Pioneer Resident of Colfax and Community
William Grosvenor, 76, died Tuesday November 12th at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Pratt. Death resulted from diabetes, his condition having been serious for the past several weeks.
The deceased was born in England January 7, 1859, but has been a resident of the United States for many years. He was a coal miner by trade and worked at Oswalt before coming to Colfax.
His wife preceded him in death August 17th, 1927. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Pratt, who tenderly cared for him during the long hours of his last illness.
Funeral services will be Held today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. at the Baptist church. Interment will be at the McKeever cemetery.

William Grosvenor was born in Staffordshire, England, January 7th, 1859, and after a lingering illness of four months, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Pratt, November 12th, 1935, at the age of 76 years and 10 months.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Garbett, November 13, 1882. In 1892 Mr. and Mrs. Grosvenor came to this country with their two children, John Edward and Emma. John Edward passed away in 1902, at the age of 18 years, and Mrs. Grosvenor passed away in 1927 at the age of 68 years.
Besides his daughter, Mrs. John Pratt, he leaves to mourn his death five grandchildren, William Pratt of Charles City, Ia., Joseph, John, Thomas and Margaret Pratt, all of Colfax, and one great grandchild, William Jordan Pratt, Charles City. He also leaves three sisters who live in England.
Mr. Grosvenor has been a resident of this vicinity for about 38 years and has in that length of time made a great host of friends. He was a king father and good neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Baptist church with the pastors, Rev. Charles J. Bukoutz officiating.
A solo, “Face to Face” was sung by Mrs. Laz Johns. “The Old Rugged Cross,” “In the Garden” and “God Will Take Care of You” were sung by a quartette composed of Mrs. Alfred Tobias, Mrs. Charles J. Bukoutz, Gomer Williams and Chester Binkerd, with Mrs. Cleo Wall at the piano.
Rev. Bukoutz took as his sermon text: “Cast thy burden on the Lord, and He will sustain thee.” Psalms 55:22. Burial was in the McKeever cemetery.
