Thomas Gould, Former Resident, Died Monday
Thomas Hooper Could, 74, retired purchasing agent of the Maytag Co., died early Monday morning at Skiff hospital from a heart attack. Mr. Gould retired his position with the Maytag Co., four years ago. He moved to Newton in 1929 after living in Colfax for 23 years.
He was employed as a bookkeeper for the Colfax Mining Company for several years.
Survivors are his wife, Ethel, two sons, Thomas H. Gould, Jr. of San Francisco, and Robert W. Gould of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Arnold P. (Virginia) Monteith of Mountainburg, Ark., one sister, Mrs. Helen Preston of Chicago, Ill.; three grandsons and one granddaughter. One son, Paul preceded___.(text missing)
Born to Horace D. and Ann Hooper Gould at Davenport Nov. 20, 1884, Mr. Gould married Mabel Dawson in 1904. She died in 1944 and he married Ethel Spearing in June of 1945.
He was a member of United Presbyterian church, Newton Lodge No. 59 AF & AM, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple in Des Moines, Newton Elks club and Izaak Walton League.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Newton with burial in McKeever cemetery north of Colfax.

Gould Funeral
Mrs. Paul Sents of Ottumwa was in Newton Wednesday for the funeral of an uncle, Thomas H. Gould, 74. He was a retired purchasing agent of the Maytag company.
Services were held at the Morgan-Loehr funeral home with the Rev. W. W. Johnson officiating. Burial was in McKeever cemetery, north of Colfax.
