Colfax, Iowa – Emil Dean Exley, 69, of Colfax, died Wednesday, April 8 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home with the Rev. Frederick Kramer, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax.
Visitation will be held Friday after noon at the funeral home. Family will be present at the funeral home Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The son of Claude and Verna Troutman Exley, he was born May 27, 1928, in Derby.
He married Doloris Marie James in 1950 in Russell.
Mr. Exley was employed by the Maytag Company in the die cast department before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the UAW and a longtime UAW union steward at Maytag.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Alan and Laura and Burt, all of Colfax, Steven and Rhonda Exley-Schuman of Mt. Vernon and Clifton of Purcellville, VA; five grandchildren; a brother, Dale of Chariton; and five sisters, Illa Chappell of Des Moines, Averill Halferty and Altha Offenburger, both of Chariton, Audrey Lockridge of Russell and Elma Schribner of Corning.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three brothers.
