Former Area Resident Is Crash Victim
A former Jasper County resident, Mrs. Kathy Connolly, 21, of Davenport, was one of three persons killed in a truck passenger car collision on Interstate 80 near LaSalle, Ill., Sunday evening.
Mrs. Connolly is the former Kathy Herbold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Herbold of Rt. 1, Mingo.
Also killed in the accident were Mrs. Nancy Wagner, 32, and Larry Wagner, 23, both of Chicago, Ill.
Police said they believe the Wagners were husband and wife.
Illinois State Police said a truck driven by Lawrence Deathridge, 49, of Moline, Ill., crashed in the rear of the passenger car as the automobile slowed on the expressway.

Funeral Services Thursday For Mary Cathleen Connolly
Mingo – Funeral services for Mary Cathleen (Cathy) Connolly, 21, of Davenport, a former resident of Jasper County, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Omer Woltering, pastor of the church and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valeria, the Rev. Edward Lew, the Rev. Walter J. McEleney, the Rev. Raphael Maher and the Rev. Sean Santos, will conduct the services. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
Memorial contributions to the Interfaith Center at Colfax will be accepted.
Mrs. Connolly, the former Mary Cathleen Herbold of near Mingo, was one of three persons killed Sunday evening in a car-truck accident on Interstate 80 near LaSalle, Ill.
Survivors are her husband, Stephen Mark; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Herbold of Mingo, seven brothers and sisters, Connie, Colleen, Ceil, Chris, Colin, Carol and Christen; and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Jane Gavin of San Diego, Calif.
Mrs. Connolly was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Valeria.
She was born July 26, 1949, in Des Moines and was a 1967 graduate of Mingo High School.
She attended Iowa State University in Ames for a year and Marycrest College at Davenport, where she was still a student, for three years.
She was married to Stephen Mark Connolly Dec. 5, 1970 at Long Grove.
