Funeral Services Mrs. F. E. Boyd Thursday
Very Large Crown Attended Funeral of Presbyterian Church
Funeral services for Mrs. F. E. Boyd were held at 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. Theodore Morning, pastor of the church officiating. The many friends assembled and the numerous bouquets and floral emblems paid a fitting tribute to this woman so beloved by the people of her community.
Agnes C. Murray was born in Little Sioux, Iowa, on May the 14th, 1871. At the time of her death in Iowa City, May the 28th, 1929, she was 58 years and 14 days old.
She graduated from St. Frances Academy in Council Bluffs in 1889. Here she received a splendid musical education which equipped her so that in after life, she was able to render a fine ministry in music.
November the 3rd, 1897, she was united in marriage with F. E. Boyd at Little Sioux. To this union three children were born, viz: Mrs. E. E. Pearson of Grand Junction, Iowa; Mrs. John S. Ashby of Chicago and F. E. Boyd, Jr., of Armour, S.D.
In 1904 the family came to Colfax, which has been the home since.
Mrs. Boyd was a very active woman and citizen. She did her part in the church, in the clubs of which she was a member; and as a member of the Library Board. She belonged to the Eastern Star, the P.E.O. and the Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Boyd possessed rare musical talent and culture. She was always ready to use her talent for the pleasure of others. She was practical, cheerful and companionable. A devoted wife, a loving mother and a helpful neighbor. To know her was to admire and love her. On every side, she is well spoken of and we feel that we have lost a personal friend in the passing of Mrs. Boyd.
Two favorite songs were sung by Mrs. M. E. Whitcomb, Miss Agnes Duncan, Mrs. B. F. VanDyke, Mrs. Harry Keipp, B. F. VanDyke and Rev. Theodore Morning, with organ accompaniment by Mrs. S. E. Tennant.
The pallbearers were J. B. Ryan, Paul Monroe, Tom Gould, H. E. Bell, Frank Gagle, Sr., and John Doyle.
Interment was had at the family lot in the McKeever cemetery north of Colfax.
