L. S. Bauer, Well Known Poweshiek Twp. Farmer Died
Funeral Services Will Be Held Friday Afternoon From Presbyterian Church
Leonard Bauer, 57, well known farmer of Poweshiek Township died at eleven o’clock Tuesday night at the Colfax Sanitarium, death resulting from peritonitis Mr. Bauer submitted to an operation Saturday for appendicitis, the appendix having been ruptured.
Mr. Bauer was one of the better farmers in the county, owning his own farm and was aggressive and efficient and a community builder. He was actively engaged in farming at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter Miss Ruth Bauer of Chicago, one son Gerald Bauer, a senior at Grinnell college, his mother Mrs. L. S. Bauer of Des Moines, a sister Mrs. J. D. Black of Des Moines and two brothers, Pearl Bauer of Prairie City and Elmer Bauer of Mitchellville.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian church at 2:30. Interment will be at the McKeever cemetery.
