Colfax – George Barker, 61, of Colfax died Saturday, June 1, at the Altoona Manor in Altoona.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Eldon Nolte, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Colfax, will conduct services. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Survivors are his wife, Hedwig; two sons, John of Newton and George of Altoona; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Linda) Sufficool of Colfax; three grandchildren; a half-brother, Ronald Gould, of West Des Moines; and three half-sisters, Lillian Bucklin, Joan Hasseltine and Katherine Tomlinson, all of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, John Gould.
Mr. Barker was a member of the L. L. Pelling Construction Co. of Iowa City.
The son of Jack and Clarice Barker Gould, he was born March 10, 1924 in Colfax.
He was married to Hedwig Lechner, July 19, 1947 in Newton.
