NEWTON - Henry G. (Hank) Willemsen, 80, of Newton, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Park Centre Care Center in Newton.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Newton, the Rev. David Wendel officiating. Burial: Newton Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton. Visiting hours are open today at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, with family present 5-7 p.m. Memorials: Alzheimer's of Iowa, to be left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service.

Hank was born Sept. 21, 1922, in rural Sully to John and Dora Klein Willemsen. He had lived in Newton for over 50 years.

He married Helen M. Beyer on Dec. 9, 1943, in Oskaloosa. He was owner and operator of Home Oil Co. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jasper County Farm Bureau, and the Elks.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: John and Dona Willemsen of Elkhart and Jim and Anne Willemsen of Newton; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister and brother-in-law: Marjorie and Herb Van Wyk of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 2000.
