LYNNVILLE - Dale L. White, 84, of Lynnville, died Saturday, Dec. 21, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lynnville Friends Church, Pastor Pete Schuler and Cindy Norman officiating. Burial: Friends Cemetery in Lynnville. Visiting hours are open today at Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon, where the family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. today. Memorials: Quakerdale.

Dale Lanning White was born June 30, 1918, near Chelsea to David and Nellie Lanning White. His family moved to Lynnville, and he graduated from Grinnell High School in 1936.

On Oct. 11, 1940, he married Reva Klyn at her parents' home near Lynnville. He farmed in the Searsboro area until moving to Taintor in 1953. He retired from farming in 1980, when he moved to Lynnville. He was an active member of Lynnville Friends Church and had been president of the Taintor Co-Op. He enjoyed his annual trips to Canada with the Lynnville fishing group; gardening and flowers; and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Sharon and Dr. Stephen Sparks of Bloomfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Karen White of New Sharon; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Myron White of Grinnell, Norman and Wanda White of Ankeny and Lyle and Barbara White of Tama; and a sister, Vivian Graham of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Reva, on April 15, 1992.
