LYNNVILLE - Lena Meppelink, 83, of Lynnville, died Thursday, March 14, at Friendship Manor Care Center in Grinnell.

Her funeral service was held today, March 18, at First Assembly of God Church in Newton, the Rev. Ed Aubuchon officiating. Burial: Sully Cemetery, Sully. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: First Assembly of God Church Mission Fund. They may be left at the funeral home.

Lena Meppelink was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Killduff to John and Christina Terlouw Meppelink. She attended Sudlow Country Grade School. In 1940 the family moved to Lynnville. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Newton. She was employed at First State Bank in Lynnville for 42 years before retiring.

She is survived by two sisters: Jennie Willemsen of New Sharon and Marie Barsness of Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, one in infancy and John Meppelink Jr.; and three sisters: Stella Meppelink, Johanna (Mrs. Russell) Vande Krol and Susie Meppelink.
