KNOXVILLE - Barbara Linda Gelles, 80, of Knoxville, died Friday, March 22, at her home.

Her funeral service was held this morning, March 26, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lovilia, the Rev. Mark Spring and the Rev. Scott Lemaster officiating. Burial: St. Peter's Cemetery, Lovilia. Arrangements are by Gilbert-Nordstrom Funeral Homes of Albia.

Barbara Linda Gelles was born Nov. 13, 1921, to Edward and Bertha Hughes Ahn.

She married Mike Gelles on Oct. 12, 1937. She was a homemaker until her children graduated from high school. She then worked in Albia at Maloney Door Factory. She worked at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville in the dietary department until her retirement.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, shopping and going to flea markets. She also like wildlife and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels.

She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Gelles of Knoxville; two sons, Edward Gelles of Knoxville and John Gelles of El Cajon, Calif.; two sisters: Olive Beakler of Russell and Ruby Riseley of Knoxville; five grandsons; three step-granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Audrey Pettyjohn; a brother, Emory Ahn; two grandsons; and a great-grandson in infancy.
