PRAIRIE CITY - Ramona Holmes, 57, of Prairie City, died Saturday, Dec. 14, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines of a heart ailment.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prairie City United Methodist Church, the Rev. John Poe officiating. Burial: Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with family present 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Prairie City United Methodist Church or Prairie City Historical Society.

Ramona Holmes was born July 5, 1945, in Prairie City to Lawrence and Evelyn Churchill Brashear. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1963.

She married Stephen Holmes on Jan. 10, 1964, at the United Methodist Church in Prairie City. She worked in the payroll department of Des Moines Public Schools.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Dwain and Junann Holmes of Tracy, and Dean Holmes of Tracy; and a brother and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Doris Brashear of Mesa, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David.
