SULLY - Sadie D. Nikkel, 83, of Sully, died Tuesday, April 24, at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.

Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Sully Christian Reformed Church in Sully, the Rev. Lawrence J. Howerzyl officiating. Burial; Sully Cemetery, Sully. Memorials: Sully Christian Grade School or The Bible League. Visiting hours at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella begin Thursday and continue all day, with family present 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday.

Sadie Dieleman was born March 26, 1918, to Daniel and Alida Terpstra Dieleman near Sully. She was educated in Sully Christian Grade School.

On Dec. 18, 1941, she married James Nikkel in the Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Sully. They farmed north of Sully for 40 years. She was a homemaker. In August 1981 they moved into Sully. In May 1994, James was diagnosed with acute lymphoma, and died Sept. 15, 1994.

Sadie continued to live in their home and spent time with friends and other widows. She was a lifetime member of Sully Christian Reformed Church, where she belonged to various circles. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and doing handwork, and reading.

She is survived by four children and spouses: Connie L. and Paul Hooyer of Avon, Colo., Eldon L. and Brenda VerMeer Nikkel of Sully, Rhonda R. and Nelson Hoskins of Ottumwa, and Philip J. and Rashele Nikkel of Sully; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law: Louis and Bernice Dieleman of Pella; a brother-in-law, Louis D. (Christine Dieleman) Van Wyk of Pella; and a sister-in-law, Ernestine W. (Harry W.) Dieleman of Sully.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sisters: Jennie Van Kooten, Nellie Van Kooten, Harriet Vande Voort and Christine Van Wyk; and four brothers: William, Daniel, Wallace and Harry W. Dieleman.
