LYNNVILLE - Florence (Mrs. Case) Jansen, 83, of Lynnville, died Wednesday at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sully Reformed Church, the Rev. Lawrence J. Howerzyl officiating. Burial: Sully Cemetery. Memorials: Gideons Living Memorial Bible Plan. Visiting hours at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella are open today, with family present 6:30-8 p.m.

Florence Van Zante was born July 18, 1918, on a farm in the Bethel neighborhood north of Lynnville, to Andrew and Catherine Vande Krol Van Zante. She received a grade school education at Union Country Grade School, and lived with her parents until her marriage.

On Aug. 6, 1938, she married Cornelius G. (Case) Jansen at the parsonage of the Reformed Church in Sully. Their first child, Larry Lavoy, was born while they were living near Taintor. Later they moved near Kellogg, and in March 1940 they moved north of Lynnville. They began farming on their own. A month later, Florence contracted the polio virus which disabled her walking for the rest of her life. Two years later their other two children were born: Darrell Eugene and Nancy Gaye. They remained on the farm the rest of their married lives; Florence was a homemaker.

She was a member of Sully Reformed Church all her life. She enjoyed her family, as well as collecting teapots, dolls and bells.

She is survived by her husband, Case; their children and spouses: Larry L. Jansen of Lynnville, Darrell and Barbara Antle Jansen of Sully, and Nancy G. and Marion Terpstra of New Sharon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Kathryn (Harris) Van Zante of Pella, Ruby (Laverne Van Zante) and Ralph Van Wyk of Sully.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and their husbands and two brothers: Leota and John Blom, Harris Van Zante, Marie and Harris Beyer and Laverne Van Zante.
