Ralph De Vries, 98, of Sully, died Friday, May 4, at Pella Regional Health Center.

His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sully Christian Reformed Church in Sully, the Rev. Larry Howerzyl officiating. Burial: Sully Cemetery. Memorials: Sully Christian School or Sully Ambulance Fund. Visiting hours are open 3-8 p.m. today at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella, and begin 9 a.m. Tuesday at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Sully; the family will greet visitors there 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Ralph De Vries was born May 20, 1902, in Friesland, Netherlands, to Fedde and Janke De Vries. He had lived in Sully the past 28 years. He was a self-employed farmer for over 40 years. He was a member of Sully Christian Reformed Church.

He is survived by his wife, Cornelia, of Sully; a son and daughter-in-law: Leonard and Ruth De Vries of Pella; a daughter and son-in-law: Joann and Mick Knierim of Grestham, Wis.; his grandchildren and spouses: Ryan, Heidi (Mrs. Layton) De Vries and Laremy De Vries, Joel and Carol Knierim, Paul and Beth De Boer, Carol and Seth Knierim; four great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Dorothy De Vries, Marie Veldhuizen, Dorothy Van Zee and Anna Van Zee; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brother: Jan, Peter, Ben and Cecil De Vries; two sisters: Hilda De Groot and Marijke Buisman; an infant brother and sister; and a grandson, Layton De Vries.
