Gerald A. De Kock, 77, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa.

His funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Don DeGlopper officiating. A family prayer service led by the Rev. Gil Visser will be 1:15 p.m. Saturday in the west wing of the church. Burial: Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Visiting hours begin 4 p.m. Thursday at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with family present 6:30-8 p.m. Friday. Memorials: Mahaska Hospice or The Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association.

Gerald A. De Kock was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Jasper County to Anthony and Henrietta Elenbaas De Kock. He graduated from Lynnville High School in 1943.

He married Anne Van Ringelestein near Oskaloosa on Feb. 22, 1951. He farmed, first north of Sully and later south of Oskaloosa for 24 years, and lastly east of Oskaloosa for 18 years. He also drove a school bus for Oskaloosa Community School District for 10 years.

Gerald and Anne moved into Oskaloosa in July 1998. He was a member of Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, where he served as a deacon and also taught Sunday school.

He is survived by his wife, Anne of Oskaloosa; a daughter and son-in-law: Carol Lynne and Larry Zylstra of Farmington; two grandchildren: Michael Lee and Christy Linae Zylstra; and a sister and brother-in-law: Genevieve and Ivan Wikner of Johnston.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Marlene Renee Zylstra.
