Jennie M. Woodrow, 100, of Newton died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at USA Healthcare — Newton.

Funeral services will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton with the Rev. Ernest Braida officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church until the time of the service. Memorials will be accepted to the Jennie Woodrow Memorial Fund and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the evening of the service.

The daughter of John and Jennie (Bugni) Vardo, she was born April 23, 1905, in Danville, Ill. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1923 and attended the University of Commerce.

On Aug. 25, 1932, she married Myron D. Woodrow in Colfax. She was a country school teacher for seven years. After she married, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Woodrow was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served as president of Sacred Heart Society. She lived in Colfax and Newton.

She is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Shannon of North Liberty; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mary Schnathorst of Des Moines and Amelia Zoutte of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters; one half-brother; and a great-granddaughter.
