COLFAX — Joan Kay Brant, 68, of Colfax died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Joan Kay Brant Memorial Fund, and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com .

The daughter of John and Josephine (Tomlin) Cornwall, she was born Aug. 8, 1936, in Iowa City. On Feb. 11, 1955, she married Clifford Myron Brant in Newton. She worked at the Canteen in Newton and was a cook for many years. She enjoyed going to garage sales, collecting angels and cooking.

Survivors include her children, Deb Brant of Colfax, Clifford "Junior" (Mianne) Brant of Newton, Gary Lee Brant, also of Newton, Harry Edward (Betty) Brant of Colfax, Jolene Retman of Newton, James Brant of Colfax and Corey Brant of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a twin brother, John (Judy) Cornwall of Summersville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
