PETTY

Leonard L. Petty was born in Wayne County, Jan. 13, 1925. He passed away at the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Corydon, Iowa, Oct. 28, 1998 at the age of 73, after several years of ill health.

He was a veteran of the US Navy duriing WW II. He worked for the city of Urbandale from which he retired at the age of 60.

Some of his earlier interests were playing the guitar and singing, motorcycles and owning and showing Arabian horses. He also enjoyed tennis and bowling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Cecil, a brother, Clell, who passed away earlier this year, and a brother and sister who died in infancy.

He leaves to mourn two daughters, Gail Stump of Norwalk and Dana Outhouse of Newton, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one brother, Wayne of Colona, Ill., four sisters, Leoan Soper of Eudora, Kan., Marjorie Davidson of East Moline, Ill., Madge Foster of Des Moines and Carole Abels of Bemidji, Minn.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery with graveside services held. Fielding Funeral Home of Chariton was in charge of arrangements.
