Morgan Bates, 76 years old, died early Friday morning at the residence of his son, 612 Maple street.
Mr. Bates had been sick for some time and during the past three days had been given up by the attending physicians. He was born in Belmont county, Ohio, in December, 1825, and moved to town in 1862, coming to Des Moines a number of years ago. Two sons, Thomas and harry, survive him, the deceased making his home with the latter. The remains will be shipped to Mingo, Iowa, where funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church. Interment will take place at Green Castle Cemetery at Mingo.
