Gay Myrtle (Hudson) Biery, 72, of Maxwell, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA.
Gay was born March 6, 1943 in Collins, IA, the daughter of Theodore and Lois (Swalwell) Hudson Cross. She graduated from Collins High School in 1961. She married Gerald “Mike” Biery on June 25, 1961. She retired after many years working for the State of Iowa in the Department of Human Services.
Gay loved her family very much, including her beloved dogs, Wild Man and Pretty Girl and her cat CeCe.
Gay is survived by her children: Debra (David) Nichols of Colorado Springs, Tony Biery of Maxwell John (Ronda) Biery of Collins, her brothers: Ted (Leota) Hudson of Maxwell, Jerry (Kathy) Hudson of Collins, half-brother Lyman Hudson of Alaska, and step-brother David Glasgow of Colorado, half-sisters: Sandia (Butch) Eisenberg of Millerton, Sue (Dale) Vajgrt of Des Moines, Golda (Pat) Blakely of Des Moines, Linda Engesether of Bemidji, MN and 7 grandchildren: Joanna Harlow, Michael & Kristina Nichols, Tamara Biery, Gary (Emily) Biery, Toni Biery, Shelby Biery and 3 great-grandchildren: Sara Harlow, Jordan Downs and Paxton Biery.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mike, her parents, her step-father Lester Cross, and half-sister Lynn Mickel.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxell. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 5, at Ashton Cemetery in rural Mingo.
Memorials may be made to the Gay Biery Memorial Fund.
Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
