Mary J. Leonard, 91, of Heather Manor, 600 E. Fifth St., died of a heart ailment there Sunday. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Ashton Chapel near Mingo. Burial will be in Ashton Chapel Cemetery.
Miss Leonard was born in Collins and moved to Des Moines in 1970 from Michigan. She retired after 43 years teaching in Iowa, South Dakota and Michigan and was an army veteran of World War II, a member of the Methodist Church and Iowa State Education Association.
Survivors include two brothers, Joe of Maxwell and Ralph of Newton.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Hamilton’s Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
