Delmar W. Sparks, 65, of Mingo, died Thursday at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown from a heart ailment. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Farrar United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Farrar Cemetery.
Delmar W. Sparks was born Aug. 22, 1935 in Newton, the son of Russell and Pauline (Reckler) Sparks. He graduated from Farrar High School in 1954. He married Clara Morgan Sept. 2, 1954, in Nashua. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer. He was a member of Mingo United Methodist church and the American Legion, and was a 4-H leader, Boy Scout leader and MYI leader.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Rod Allen Sparks of Phoenix, one daughter, Candace Cardosa of Chandler, Ariz., three grandchildren, one brother, LeRoy Sparks of East Lynn, Mo., three sisters, Beverly Bailey of Mitchellville, Mary Craig of Mitchellville and Pat Valline of Nevada, and a foreign exchange student, Alice Rodlauer of Mel_can, Va.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Farrar United Methodist church and continue until the start of the funeral. Memorials can be made to Mingo or Farrar United Methodist churches.
Bacon Funeral Home of Maxwell is in charge of the arrangements.
