William Dodd, 62, of 1506 Stafford St., died Thursday, March 17, of Heart failure at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Dodd was born April 10, 1925, in Brush, Colo., to William W. Dodd and Minnie Beals. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He moved to Ames in 1950 and had been a resident of Ames since that time. He was employed by Iowa State University Press as a printer. He retired in 1985 after 35 years of employment.
He is survived by one son, Bill Dodd, of Kelley, Iowa, two daughters, Connie Dodd, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Linda Sammons, of diagonal, Iowa, four sisters, Doris Romans, Marjorie Lemke, Fay Troxel and Barbara Johnson, all of Des Moines, six grandchildren and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Hunt) Dodd, in 1986, and one sister, Wanda.
Memorial service will be Monday, March 21, at 10 a.m. from Stevens Memorial Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour before the service. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. following the memorial service, at Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa.
A memorial fund has been established to the Shriners Children Burn Center. Memorials may be sent to RR 1/ Box 64, Kelley, Iowa 50134.
