Robert “Bob” Dewey Comstock, 75, of Baxter died Saturday of Parkinson’s disease at Baxter Health Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter with the Rev. Rollin Waters officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Nevada Cemetery.
Robert “Bob” Dewey Comstock was born June 15, 1927, in Ames, the son of Walter and Iva (McColly) Comstock. He graduated from Ames High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Marian Helene Smith July 7, 1949, in Nevada. He earned an accounting degree from Capital City Community College. He owned and operated an accounting firm in Baxter until his retirement in 1990. He later worked at Baxter City Library. He was a member of Congregation United Church of Christ in Baxter and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Teresa Garr of Baxter and Laura Hartgers of Newton, his mother, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one sister, Betty Lou Sturgis of Ames.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Baxter City Library. Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter is in charge of arrangements.
