Michael Carter, 33, Jewell, died of hepatitis Saturday, May 28, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Des Moines. Services were held 1:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 31, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home at Monroe. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery, Monroe.
Mr. Carter was born Oct. 13, 1949 at Monroe where he attended Monroe High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. He operated a furniture refinishing business in Jewell.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Marj and Sam McBride, Pleasanton; three brothers, Larry Carter, Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis McBride and Wayne McBride, both of Pleasanton, and his grandmother, Grace Gildersleeve, Monroe.
