Gladys E. Skinner, 103, of Nevada died Saturday at the Rolling Green Village in Nevada of heart failure. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Rev. Penny Hansel officiating. Burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery near Mingo.
Gladys E. Parker was born in Newton to Edward and Elizabeth (Rippey) Parker. On Jan. 21, 1914, she married Arthur Skinner in Jasper County. He preceded her in death in 1952.
Mrs. Skinner had been a resident of Nevada since moving there from Des Moines in 1950. She was employed as a cook at the Story County Hospital and restaurants in Nevada. Mrs. Skinner attended the Nevada United Methodist Church, was a member of Shipley’s Ladies Aid and taught piano.
Mrs. Skinner is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Hunerdosse of Indianola, one son, Howard Skinner of Maxwell, nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
