Baxter, July 8 – Special – Funeral services for Fred A. Kanne were held at the Bethany Reform church here this morning with Rev. D. E. Bosma in charge and with a brief service at 10 o’clock at the home preceding the church service.
Music was furnished by the Bethany church choir and the pall bearers were M. J. Kettenhossen, Calvin Noah, Fred Kracht, Albert Ludeking, August Hager and Benjamin Brandt.
Fred Kanne was born in Malaka township, Jasper County on April 24, 1870 and was the son of Henry and Louisa Paul Kanne. He had been a resident of this community for the past 60 years.
He was confirmed under the tutorship of S. Elliker and joined the Reform church on April 6, 1884 together with a class of 10 young people.
He was united in marriage to Mary Hager in Allamakee County on June 10, 1897 and to them were born two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Krueger and Mrs. Theodore Herzog. He is also survived by four grandchildren and by two brothers and five sisters, Levi, Louis, Mrs. Pete Allaman, Mrs. August Krampe, Mrs. Herman Saak, Mrs. Albert Tinnermeier and Mrs. Will Saak.
