Mary E. Jensma, 95, of 200 S. Eighth Ave. E. died Saturday, Jan. 24, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 16, at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Mary Schnepf of First United Methodist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday, Feb. 15, from 12 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Courtyard Project at USA Healthcare and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of George and Elizabeth (Garrington) Bridges, she was born March 11, 1908, in Cricket. She graduated from Attica High School in Attica and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa. On June 25, 1931, she married Edward A. Jensma in Bethany, Mo. She was a teacher and also worked as a sales clerk for Santen's Grocery Store and Nolin Drug Store.

Mrs. Jensma was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a 61-year member and pastor worthy matron of Newton Chapter O.E.S. No. 100. She lived for 10 years at Rock Creek Lake and eight years in Fulton, Texas, before returning to Newton in 1988. She lived at Hilltop Manor in Pella from 2000-2002 until the time of the death.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Jack Tracy of Port Hueneme, Calif.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Those left to honor Mary's memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Jack Tracy of Port Hueneme, California; 2 grandchildren, Janel Sait of South Lake Tahoe, California and Jon Bisom of Santa Barbara, California; and her 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Edward in 1986.

Mary was a graduate of Attica High School in Attica, Iowa and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a 61 year member and Past Worthy matron of Newton Chapter O.E.S. No. 100.

Memorials to the Courtyard Project at USA Healthcare may be left at the funeral home.
